Biography
Euchan Jang is a PhD candidate in Comparative Politics and Political Theory. His research spans political participation, political communication, and democratic innovation across diverse regional and cultural contexts. He asks whether and how newer, more ambitious forms of citizen participation can change democratic policymaking. His job market paper, Press Here to Deliberate, shows how deliberative citizen forums can alter both the production and consumption of political news. His other research interests include inequality within deliberation and the use of AI to scale deliberation online.
Euchan received his BA in International Relations and German Languages and Literature from Tufts University and earned his MA in Political Science at Seoul National University. Additionally, he served as a military translator in the Republic of Korea - United States Combined Forces Command (ROK-US CFC) in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
